What the owners say... Our Mother loved living here. She especially liked sitting on the patio in the sunshine, reading, with a glass of wine to hand, looking south across the garden. Our parents had lived in and around Sawbridgeworth since the 60‘s, and whenever they returned to this secluded, warm, hidden gem; they knew they were home.

At the Smithy, Mum liked being surrounded by friendly neighbours and having familiar shops, and cafes within a short walk. Sawbridgeworth railway station is a ten-minute walk If she wanted to travel further afield or she could use her designated parking bay at home.
After passing through the front door, The Smithy seems to grow with every step, fanning out until you reach the kitchen/diner and wrap-around gardens. The previous family had used downstairs as a social space, and its huge mezzanine for entertaining. For Mum and Dad, the peaceful mezzanine provided a calm and relaxing oasis, that provided the perfect setting for their large antiques.

In 2020, we found a whole new use for the driveway to West Road, enabling us to visit, deliver food, and enjoy each other‘s company in the garden, without having to go through the house.
This house bought such happiness to our parents, (We would keep it if it was nearer to us.) We‘re sure you‘ll be happy here too.
