The Lifestyle

Weymouth, a pretty Georgian seaside resort with a sandy beach and a warm, shallow bay, is the biggest town in the area, and has been on an upward curve since it was chosen to host the sailing events at the 2012 Olympics. It’s obviously a hotspot for yachties, but the town itself has benefited from Games-related investment, and there are ambitious plans to turn the old ferry port into a “leisure zone”. Weymouth manages to stay lively through the off season, helped along by a regular range of folk, seafood and music festivals.

Wyke Regis is a popular area for all water sports enthusiasts, with the National Sailing Academy less than a mile away and at the heart of the unesco Jurassic Coast, the area is very popular with walkers, climbers and bird watchers. The area also boasts Smallmouth Beach which is just minutes away and mainly known to the locals and lies away from the hustle and bustle of Weymouth Town centre. There is also the castle and gardens which look out onto Portland Harbour and is a charming place to relax in the summer amongst the flowers.
