The Property - This delightful Grade II listed town cottage was built in 1906 by B Parker and R Unwin to their design of 1898/9 published in 1901 in "The Art of Building a House". Westholm is the earliest known scheme based on the traditional village green layout and the prototype of all later developments of this type throughout the country. The cottages are grouped in a horseshoe around a central green in 7 one and a half storey blocks of 2, 4 and 5 houses, varying in design and are a seminal development concept.

This terraced home retains much of its original character with parquet flooring to the sitting room and hall, but has been well modernised and extended. The master bedroom has an en suite shower room and a third bedroom has been provided in an excellent loft conversion. The house benefits from gas fired central heating and sealed unit double-glazing.

The Outside - The cottage is set some 42′ (13m) back from the road behind a front garden laid to lawn with herbaceous borders, ornamental shrubs and box hedging. There is a gravel off-street parking bay for two cars at the front of the plot, which measures approximately 189′ by 24′ (57.65m x 7.4m) overall.

A shared side passage leads to the gate to the rear garden, which is about 109′ (32.2m) in length. The garden is laid to lawn with paved patios, box hedging, herbaceous beds and borders, rockery, ornamental shrubs and fruit trees.

There are two timber potting sheds and a timber garden shed.

The neighbouring property has a right of way from the shared passage to its rear garden.

The Location - Westholm is located towards the eastern end of Wilbury Road opposite Norton Common, a beautiful area extending over 63 acres of unspoilt grass and woodland, perfect for walks and picnics and with tennis courts, bowling green and outdoor pool.

It is just three-quarters of a mile from the town′s mainline railway station. The fastest service to London Kings Cross takes just 28 minutes and Cambridge is 26 minutes away in the other direction. Junction 9 on the A1(M) is 2.4 miles away by car.

Designed in the early 20th Century to combine the benefits of town and country, Letchworth Garden city was the world’s first example of this concept and succeeds to this day in achieving its aim. It provides excellent schools, shops, green open spaces and leisure facilities.
