History: The warehouse appears on both the 1841 Tithe Map and the 1870 os Map for the premises so this would indicate that it was built before 1841. A pastry cook – William Judd bought the premises from the daughters of a deceased miller in 1834. Previously the miller – Charles Webb had bought the premises from the widow of a Staymaker c.1822. This would indicate that the warehouse was built between 1822 – 1841 as a Staymaker would probably not have required this building type for his provisions. As the site operated as a grocery store and bakery from 1841 onwards as indicated by indentures from 1879 and 1898, this would suggest that the warehouse was used as a store for the adjacent grocery store and bakery.
