Description

Overview

As soon as you start driving down Melbourne Terrace, you can tell you entered a more historic part of Milton Keynes. Neighbouring traditional Victorian railway cottages and overlooking the decommission Wolverton - Newport Pagnell train line, this wonderful home is set in a part of Bradville you may not have known even existed.

There is both parking at the front and rear of this house with a driveway for one car at the front and further communal parking available on the lane. The entrance hall leads you first passed the separate kitchen which has a lovely bay window to the front. Although separate, it is a great size and offers ample worktop and cupboard space. There is space for three under-counter appliances as well as there being two under-counter fridges built-in. There is also a side door which leads to the rear garden.

The living room could easily fit a dining table as well as sofas, but there is also a designated dining room which is open to the living room. This means that this room could also be utilised as a home office, play room or any other reception room which meets your needs. The living area has another bay with triple aspect windows making it the perfect place as a reading corner. It also offers wonderful views over the rear garden. To access the garden you have to pass through the conservatory which offers another seating area. The current owner says it is the perfect place to sit in the evenings.

It is clear to see that the garden has been well cared for over the years, from the sweeping borders and raised beds. Immediately outside the conservatory doors is a substantial patio which also has a covered section alongside the house. Halfway up the garden is the detached garage which also has light and power. Beyond this is the gated driveway which can fit two cars - the driveway is accessed off Wylie End.

On the first floor are three bedrooms. The master bedroom shares the same bay window as the living room making it a bright and airy space. Unusually for a home in this location, there is an ensuite with a double shower cubicle and a heated towel rail. The second bedroom shares the same bay window as the kitchen, adding further character into this room. It is a comfortable double but is set up currently as a generous single. The third bedroom is a single and is currently being used as a home office. These two bedrooms are served by the family bathroom which has an overhead shower and all important window.

More about the location....

Bradville has a very pretty section of the Grand Union Canal and the old railway walk which runs 3 miles from Wolverton to Newport Pagnell. The line, which closed in 1963, has been converted to a red way for cyclists and pedestrians. Along the route, you will pass over an aqueduct on the canal and through old bridges and platforms from the old railway as well as boat moorings and fishing spots. On this walk you will be able to see the distinctive landmark; Bradwell Windmill.

The mill we now see just off the V6 Grafton St was erected around 1805 and just about made a living for the families that owned it, milling grain for local farmers. However, it was less reliable than the area’s water mills, for example along the Ouse at Old Wolverton, and by the 20th century it was derelict. The Council acquired it for just £80. Its return to health for the first time in 139 years has been achieved through a partnership between the building’s stewards, Milton Keynes Museum, and Milton Keynes Council, who funded the work of millwrights Owlsworth ijp. The restoration involved making the building watertight and restoring the sails and milling mechanism, so visitors can expect to see the historic millstones in action. Like the Museum itself, Bradwell Windmill is maintained and operated by volunteers. There are lots of Play parks across the estate, the one on Kingsfold has a large slide that has been there for over 40 years and has other play equipment for all ages to enjoy. | Council tax band: C
