ABOUT THE VILLAGE of BUCKDEN

The village is most known for the historic Buckden Towers, which is seeped in rich history spanning over 900 years. For much of that time, it was known as Buckden Palace, where it was home to the Bishops of Lincoln and is listed in the Domesday Survey of 1086. One is its most famous residents was Queen Katherine of Aragon, wife to Henry VIII who resided there from July 1533 to May 1534.

Buckden Towers is wonderful to walk around and go and visit the sheep (and lambs in the springtime), not to mention the play fields and park towards the other end of the village. It‘s a lovely walk down to the marina too and you can sit out over the river and enjoy a glass of wine or two.

Buckden itself is a wonderful village. With three great pubs all serving food, an amazing butcher, two convenience shops, hairdressers, beauticians, a pharmacy and GP surgery all within walking distance of each other.

Distance wise, Buckden is located half-way between Huntingdon and St Neots and only 25 minutes from Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre. Hugely popular with commuters, St Neots train station (and Huntingdon if travelling north) is less than 5 miles away, with trains running every 15-30 minutes into London Kings Cross taking around 45/50 minutes.

School wise, Buckden has an 'outstanding' primary school and is only 3 miles from Hinchinbrooke School and 7 miles from Kimbolton School.
