Description

A delightful grade 2 listed cottage forming part of the historic Bodlondeb Castle development, situated right in the heart of the town, yet tucked away from the madding crowd.

One of two with private gated access, own parking space and a private cottage garden complete with decked terrace.
Only a 2 minute walk from all the amenities of the town and the sea front.

A perfect bolt hole, first home or holiday rental.

The property is accessed from the private car park, through a security gate used by only two properties. A slate faced flight of steps leads to a small communal walkway which gives direct access to the private sunny garden.

The accommodation is immaculately presented throughout, very well looked after and benefits from gas fired central heating. On the ground floor is an open plan kitchen / dining / living area. Double doors lead out to the garden. The kitchen is fitted with high quality base and wall cupboards and includes integral appliances. There is a useful storage cupboard under the stairs. The spindled staircase leads up to the first floor landing which leads to two double bedrooms and a contemporary styled bathroom with shower.

A History Lesson
Bodlondeb Castle was built as a house in the 1890’s for Thomas P Davies. Mr Davies, who was the manager of the local St George’s Hotel, had been commissioned by a rich guest staying at the hotel to build the castle.
The block to the rear was formerly Salem Chapel. This building became a school whose most prominent pupil was William Morris Hughes, who became Prime Minister of Australia 1916.
The development was sympathetically refurbished in 2007. The main house has been converted into apartments and the chapel buildings at the rear have been converted into 6 cottages. ‘Elen’ is one of a pair of linked detached and the remainder are within a terrace of four.
