Description

Ashleigh is a detached home located in a leafy location just south of the city centre. It offers three bedrooms and two reception rooms. Having been in the same ownership for decades, it is now ready for a complete renovation and make-over. Extending the house could be possible, subject to the usual consents, to create a great home in one of Bath’s most sought after locations. One only has to walk along this popular and attractive lane, so close to the city, and view all the changes owners have made to their homes; inspiration will not be hard to find.

Outside

The front garden is accessed from the drive to the side of the house and has a slightly sloping lawn with a high mature hedge. By tidying it up, there would be a pleasant pedestrian path to the front door and by lowering the hedge there will also be a far reaching aspect towards the city. The driveway leads up to a small single garage, subject to planning this could be re-built and incorporated into the home. It is rare to be so close to the city yet have a rear garden backed by woodland and fields near by. Having the neighbouring land owned by a group of the neighbours caring for it and its wildlife is an added bonus.

Situation

Perrymead is a no-through lane, situated off Prior Park Road, just below one of Bath’s most famous landmarks, Prior Park. Now a well-regarded school, the surrounding Prior Park Landscape Gardens are one of the National Trust’s jewels. This sought after area south of the city centre provides a rural feel close to open countryside, but a pleasant walk down the hill, you are in the heart of Widcombe. Widcombe Parade is a fashionable street with a variety of independent shops including a coffee shop, florist, framers, and a new wine bar called The Halfpenny. There are two pubs, The Ram which includes Widcombe Delicatessen and The Ring of Bells, often a superb small venue for Bath Comedy Festival. There is also a small supermarket, dentist, and doctors’ surgery. A pedestrian bridge leads across the River Avon directly into Bath Spa Railway Station and into the city centre. Bath offers excellent cultural and leisure amenities including many fine restaurants and specialist shops, museums, art galleries and theatres. The area benefits from some of the finest schools whilst Bath University is located at the top of the hill.
