Description

'''Vendor‘s comments''' 'We bought Southbridge Road because we loved that it was a house rather than a flat and based on our budget, most of the other properties we were looking at were flats. Since our first viewing almost six years ago, we have always been drawn to the fact that it feels like a lovely cosy cottage - a welcome escape from the business that city life can bring. It‘s a period property and we like that it still retains that charm and a lot of the original features, along with a few welcomed new additions along the way. The outdoor area is a generous size and gets lots of sunshine throughout the year which was a big plus for us. The two bedrooms are a generous size, both easily allowing space for a double bed. We love that the main bedroom has an exposed brick fireplace.

We‘ve had the property for coming up to six years now. We‘re going to be very sad to leave but we‘re ready to find somewhere slightly larger as we are looking to start a family soon. It will be hard to tick all the boxes though based on what we‘re used to - outdoor space, private parking, good-sized bedrooms & living rooms, a place with character (the list goes on)!

We both work for an interior design company and take great pride in looking after a home. We have redecorated the whole home (inside and out) over the past year as we wanted to add a fresh look to some of the rooms and the outside. Over the six years weve owned it, weve always kept the house well-decorated and in good condition. The back of the house has been extended (with a new kitchen and bathroom), we didn‘t do this but we like that it makes the house feel a lot bigger and we have added our personal touches.

In terms of the area, we are big fans of the coffee shop Bob‘s Your Uncle, it serves delicious coffee and pastries. Baggatti‘s on the high street is a classic, you really can‘t go wrong there. Manchan Kitchen is Sri Lankan and does really tasty curries. The Store is also great, they serve great brunches along with roasts at the weekend and are also great just for a drink. A little further up in East Croydon, Boxpark is always so much fun (especially for watching big sports games) and has loads of great food options. Fern, opposite East Croydon station, is lovely for a fancier meal. Fern has also just opened a bar called Trickle which we‘re very keen to try! Weve seen lots of new restaurants, bars, and shops open around Croydon during our time at the house, which was very exciting.

Along with great places to eat and drink, Croydon has really good transport links too. South Croydon station is a 10-minute walk away and on the Thameslink line so very convenient. East Croydon is a 20-minute walk away (or a 5-10 minute bus) and has loads of transport options, especially for any London commuting.

While we‘re excited for our next chapter, we‘ll miss everything about our lovely home! We‘ll also miss how convenient it has been for transport links, as well as the restaurants and cafes - as mentioned above. It is also very easy to drive out into the countryside living in South Croydon, 10 minutes in the car and we‘re in beautiful Surrey countryside with lots of walks and pubs to explore. It‘s the perfect spot for being able to get into London very easily whilst also being able to escape it just as easily!'
