Description

Built in the 1980’s, Peppercorn is an attractive modern house built principally of brick under a pitched clay tile roof set well back from The Glebe. Bought by the current owners approximately 40 years ago, Peppercorn has been well maintained but is now in need of general updating. The accommodation is sensibly configured with a large entrance hall, an attractive sitting room with open fireplace and inset woodburner. The dining room, kitchen/breakfast room and study overlook the rear garden and have a spectacular easterly outlook over the surrounding countryside as do three of the bedrooms.

Peppercorn is approached off The Glebe onto a short tarmac drive adjoining which is the double garage with two up and over doors. The front garden is principally laid to lawn screened by tall beech hedging. The majority of the garden is to the rear and can be accessed via French windows from the dining room which lead onto a raised terrace with steps down to the rear garden. This is principally to lawn flanked on both sides by closeboard fencing. There are a variety of well stocked flower and shrub borders with sedum, lavender, roses, clematis and fushia. Towards the end of the garden there is a trellis which screens a former vegetable garden. The rear garden backs onto fields.

Peppercorn is situated in the delightful village of Shroton, which lies midway between Shaftesbury and Blandford Forum. It is a pretty and popular village with The Cricketers pub, a cricket ground, a large village green and a children’s playground. The neighbouring village of Iwerne Minster has a good range of everyday facilities, including an excellent post office/village store, a pub, a children’s playground and a popular café (The Writers Block) at Clayesmore School. For a wider range of facilities there is the Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury to the north, and the Georgian town of Blandford Forum to the south. Both Blandford Forum and Shaftesbury have a wide range of shops including supermarkets, delicatessens, cafes, doctors and dental surgeries, libraries, an arts centre, veterinary surgeries, small hospitals and schools. There are mainline railway stations in both Tisbury and Gillingham (London Waterloo) and the A303 lies some 17 miles to the north giving access to the South West and London, via the M3.
